Last Week’s Highlights

Verona Area Community Theater (VACT) Puts on Two Youth Musicals

Last Thursday and through the weekend, two musicals took the stage one, after another. First up was “Dinosaurs Before Dark”, featuring a talented cast of second through fifth graders who sang and danced their hearts out in this adaptation of the Magic Tree House book series. Following their performance, the curtain rose on “SpongeBob Youth Edition”, starring sixth through eighth graders as the lively residents of Bikini Bottom. This experienced group delivered energy and pizzazz, bringing the characters to life with flair.

Badger Prairie Needs Network- Need of Donations for Thanksgiving

Badger Prairie Needs Network (BPNN), located in Verona has been providing community services since 1986. Operating one of Dane County’s three busiest food pantries, in 2023, BPNN served over 2 million pounds of food to more than 81,000 people. What’s even more impressive - it’s run and led entirely by volunteers. How can you help? Donate time, money or purchase items from their amazon wishlist.

Verona Area School District Ranks

For 2025, the Verona Area School District (VASD) placed 14th in “Best School Districts in Wisconsin,” per Niche, putting VASD in the top 3% of all Wisconsin schools! Further it was #13 for best districts for Athletes! Way to go VASD!

MAKER FEATURE

This week’s maker feature is Lioness Fitness

💪- Lioness Fitness was founded in 2015 by a new mom who was looking for a different approach to fitness and recovery postpartum. The standard messaging of "just do more cardio" wasn't landing for her, so she decided to focus on strength training with a work smarter, not harder approach. She opened her doors to other moms who were in the same boat and the rest is history. Over the many iterations of Lioness they moved from client to trainer to owner, and now are hopefully in their forever home. They offer 3 main styles of classes (with some variations) all focused on teaching women how to lift weights safely and effectively without the pressure of competition.

Lioness sees their members through pregnancy, postpartum, into perimenopause and beyond. After their many moves, this past weekend they celebrated one year in their new Fitchburg space! They offered free classes, a community fair, a birthday bash and prizes all weekend long.

December kicks off 'Sleigh the Holidays' challenge to close out the year strong! New Lionesses can join us from Dec 1-21 for just $21. They will have unlimited access to our schedule and can play our Lioness Fitmas BINGO game for more prizes and fun! Fitchrona Community members can support us by sharing our gym with Lionesses in their lives who could benefit from our services. Lioness Fitness is always excited to meet new people and help women untapped strength both in and outside the gym.
